11 family meals

Feeling a bit flat today so I've set myself a bit of a cooking challenge.(You can follow me on twitter if you like username - motheronboard).
I have a number of close friends who are really brilliant, down to earth, gorgeous and internationally famous cooks on telly and all sorts. I'm quite glamorous by association. They come to my house all the time, and sit around, drink wine, talk food and inspire me. I take their ideas and largely hash them into unrepeatable table events but it helps me get through the - Oh God, another meal already? 4pm question. Their names are Sophie, Annabel and Nigella and I'm just getting to know this cool woman Jo.
To be honest it's a slightly one-way type of friendship, I mean, I havent been round to any of their places for like, well, never. I'm ok with it though.

Now Sophie told me once that the average family has 11 meals on their regular rota - the fall backs, the easy and known to be eaten by young children. So I'm going to cook my 11 meals over the next two weeks and tweet them. Then i might try and find the best 11 my girls recommend. If i dont have time to blog, I'll just tweet what we're having for dinner.

As I said, I'm feeling abit flat, but all my comfort foods, and some girlee giggling over a glass of wine - I'm hoping - might help.

Want to know one of my 11 recipes? Or share one of yours? -

Happy Mothers Day

A wee ballad for you today.....feel free to sing along..

To all the Bums i've wiped before
all the mud smeared on my clean floor
to all the times I've cried
and the bandaids I've applied
you remind me why I do this chore

For each and every sloppy kiss
for each time you pee and miss
I made you all from scratch
nothing in the world can match
how tight you clasp me with grubby fist

To all the mums who read this song
though nights are broken, and days are long
take pride in what you do
your baby is in love with you
too soon our days of chaos are gone.

muchos aroha....
